The US fashion manager Jennifer Hyman will in all likelihood move into the Supervisory Board of Zalando SE: At the virtual annual general meeting on June 23, she is to be elected to succeed Alexander Samwer, who is leaving the supervisory board. Hyman is CEO and co-founder of the New York company Rent the Runway, which rents designer clothing and accessories. In addition, she has been a non-executive member of the board of US fashion company The Estée Lauder Companies since 2018.
“Experienced entrepreneur, successful innovator”
The 39-year-old Hyman is “an experienced entrepreneur and a successful innovator,” said Supervisory Board chairwoman Cristina Stenbeck (42), explaining the nomination. She knows what is important when scaling fashion platforms and fits “into Zalano’s culture of innovation”. In addition to Hyman, three new employee representatives, Jade Buddenberg, Anika Mangelmann and Matti Ahtiainen, will join the nine-member Supervisory Board. The retiring Alexander Samwer is the youngest of the three brothers and has been a member of the board since 2013. Two years ago, he founded his own entrepreneurial investment company, Arvatis.
