Dieter Zetsche is not bored: Next Wednesday, he will hand over his position as CEO to Ola Källenius at the Daimler Annual General Meeting – and just one day later, the 66-year-old is to be named Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the travel group TUI. According to media reports, the control committee will meet next Thursday to elect Dieter Zetsche as Klaus Mangold’s successor.
Shareholder advisors are appeased
Originally, this was to take place in October, but influential shareholder advisors had warned against the double burden as CEO and Chairman of the Supervisory Board. This was no longer an issue after the farewell at Daimler, had already been announced by the chairman of the supervisory board, Mangold, at the general meeting in February. “Dr. Z”, as Zetsche is called in the USA, has been a member of TUI’s supervisory body for almost one and a half years. He is also a member of the Supervisory Board of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the medical start-up company Veta Health. His daughter Nora is one of the co-founders.
