Only one month after his retirement at the end of April, former Otto board member Rainer Hillebrand joins the supervisory board of the Hamburg trading giant. According to Manager Magazin, the 63-year-old will replace Wolfgang Lindner, also a former Otto manager, as of 1 June. Hillebrand is regarded as the initiator of cultural change and has therefore had a strong influence on the company in recent years. After an almost seamless transition without any notable “cooling-off”, he will now supervise how his successors approach the issue alongside Supervisory Board Chairman Michael Otto.
Other mandates: Commerzbank and Vorwerk
It might be helpful that Rainer Hillebrand has already gained experience as a controller: He has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Commerzbank for more than a year, where he is a member of the “Committee for Digitization and Technology”. Hillebrand is also a member of the advisory board of the Wuppertal-based Thermomix manufacturer Vorwerk. The committee is headed by Rainer Baule, former CEO of Fresenius Kabi, and honorary chairman is Jörg Mittelsten Scheid, who has been CEO for many years.
