Manager of the Year: Sixt in front of Dommermuth and Riske

The analysis and consulting firm Obermatt has named family entrepreneur Erich Sixt “CEO of the Year” in the category “large German companies”. The 74-year-old head of the car rental company of the same name has been managing the company, which was founded in 1912, in the third generation since 1969. Sixt now has 2200 stations in over 100 countries and around 5000 employees, generating annual sales of more than two billion euros. Obermatt – a company based in Switzerland – has been selecting the best CEOs since 2011 and awarding three”Gold” places.

Winner in the category medium-sized businesses: Christoph von Plotho

Sixt will be followed this year by another company owner, United Internet CEO Ralph Dommermuth. Third place in the ranking went to Gordon Riske of the forklift truck manufacturer Kion, while Thomas Bauer of the construction and engineering company Bauer AG remained the ungrateful fourth place. Christoph von Plotho (Siltronic), Andreas Arndt (Deutsche Pfandbriefbank) and Andreas Kroiss (Einhell Germany) took three places on the podium of medium-sized companies with annual sales of 400 million euros or more.
